About the database, analytics and sources

This electronic resource is based on data collected during field research and using various open sources. All this information is collected in a single database, which is tied to an electronic map. The database is constantly updated, both quantitatively and qualitatively, by adding new description fields to it. Each object is described in a number of categories: name, administrative affiliation, type, belonging to a religious tradition, date of foundation or approximate time of existence and active functioning, assigned legal status, distance from the site to the nearest settlement and the name of this settlement, form of religious worship , the presence of the passport of the site in the site, the coordinates of the site and the assessment of the accuracy of these coordinates on a scale from 1 to 5.

If the site is assigned a grade of 1, it means that the points were taken at the site using a GPS tracker or a smartphone or found on Google or Yandex maps with a high degree of accuracy, 2 - points were taken within a radius of 1 km from the site or found on electronic maps by nearby landmarks, 3 - points were taken in the area from 1-5 km from the site or found on electronic maps according to approximate landmarks, 4 - points were taken using Google or Yandex maps by approximate descriptions with an insufficient degree of confidence, 5 - points were taken using Google maps or Yandex by approximate descriptions with a very low degree of confidence

Note: please keep in mind that the coordinates that are available on the map and in the database are not always accurate and are not recommended for navigation purposes!

In the corresponding section, we present analytical charts and graphs based on the data containing in the database in August 1, 2020. Remember that statistical visualizations are based on the data with different degrees of accuracy, and therefore, they reflect only the general picture.

When using diagrams in a public space, it is required to make reference to the project and site.

In the “Sources” section, we have placed links to open sources, the data which were used to create a database and the electronic map. We are not responsible for the accuracy of the information contained in these sources.
